Winter projects

No matter what the sphere you choose, it’s great to have a project for winter that pushes you to learn a new skill or improve an existing ability. For me, this winter has provided time to keep revising my novel (now titled “Life Recipes: A Novel”), work on a few poems and send them off to various literary journals, become good enough at Cane Style Tai Chi that I can now teach it, and oh yes, I made myself a crocheted hat with a brim! Just lately I’ve returned to doing some short weight-lifting programs too. Not that I love doing that, but we all know the medical recommendation that at least two 20-minute weight-bearing sessions will help you hold onto muscle.

What are you doing? Bonsai? Pottery? New baking adventures? Trying yoga or a new style of tai chi? Working on a foreign language? Taking a course that delves into history, climate change, fashion, or what?
