Each year our garden has both major successes and wretched failures. Amont the latter this year count broccoli which got infected with an unknown virus or fungus–bye, bye. Among the successes count cucumbers. What a crop. I’ve pickled jars and jars full and now we are also enjoying the “slicers” in salads, out of hand, and having the pleasure of gifting them to friends. Chinese asters–pink, lavendar, white, purple, along with brilliant and huge zinnias in oranges and pinks decorate our otherwise weedy and messy garden along with the sturdy marigolds–such work horses. I’ve frozen cauliflower, beans, kale, collards and will have more of that to do, along with tomato sauces of various kinds.
And in between weeding, picking, and processes all this good food, tai chi is great to stretch out the weary muscles and interrupt the repetitive work in a most enjoyable, relaxing way.
Hope you’re enjoying fresh veggies too, whether you grow them or buy them at a local farmers’ market. I’m so glad my neighbors grow corn and certain other crops I can’t manage.

Tom and I are enjoying cukes, beans, summer squashes and other veggies from our farmers’ market.
Glad you’ve got a garden.
Love, Sue
