Quebec City–my daughter and granddaughter deciding where we head next; the famous Hotel Frontenac in the background. Yesterday we returned from a short visit to Quebec City–a beautiful and lively place where history comes alive. Ooo la la, my French is so rusty! But when you try to speak another language it wakes you up to the pleasures of words and phrases. In the same way, rather than heading straight for the most famous tourist sites, if you wander the streets you bump into things that make you think in new ways. We found ourselves, one afternoon, in a little back street where the residents must climb up multiple staircases to get into their apartments. These folks must be as strong as mountain goats! And sometimes you simply have to enjoy the well-known touristic venues, as with the Hotel Frontenac.

I love keeping in touch with you via your blog. Thanks for all you write, which I enjoy enormously. Love, Sue/ Susan
